FLW Readies for 2010 Forrest Wood Cup

2010 marks the fifteenth anniversary season for FLW Outdoors and the 2010 season is near completion as anglers are anxiously waiting to compete in the Forrest Wood Cup...the season was set to get off to an exciting start with the first event on the Red River in Shreveport, La., but unsafe conditions led to its cancellation...the Tour headed to Table Rock Lake in Branson, Mo., for a second consecutive season which served as the first official event for the 2010 FLW Tour...the schedule then led everyone to Lake Norman in Charlotte and then to Knoxville to fish Fort Loudoun-Tellico lakes...the event in Knoxville was on the heels of the first National Guard FLW College Fishing National Championship which was won by the University of Florida (Jake Gipson and Matt Wercinski)...Hot Springs marked the fourth stop on the Tour and Lake Guntersville marked the fifth and final stop, with both locations testing the mettle of every angler with the high temperatures...after a daunting season, 2010 will culminate with the crowning of the Forrest Wood Cup Champion Aug. 8.

Forrest Wood Cup Champions
As the 2010 season nears its end, anglers are gearing up to compete for the world championship of bass fishing, the Forrest Wood Cup, held on Lake Lanier this year...the prestigious title, which is the most lucrative event in the sport of bass fishing, is held by the following select group of anglers.

Forrest Wood Cup Takeoff Festivities
Fans will have the chance to meet their favorite anglers, get photos and autographs each morning as the anglers prepare to take off from Laurel Park at 7 a.m....the festivities will begin at 6:30 a.m. with free coffee and donuts courtesy of Folgers...the presentation of colors and the national anthem will be performed by members of the Georgia National Guard each morning...following the anglers competing in the Forrest Wood Cup, the National Guard Junior Championship anglers will takeoff from Laurel Park at 7:15 a.m. on Friday and Saturday.

Championship Weigh-ins
Fans will have the opportunity to watch the greatest anglers in the world bring their prize catches to the stage each day during the tournament...fans will get a chance to hear how they caught their fish and see those fish up close and personal...the championship weigh-ins are daily at 5 p.m. at the Arena at Gwinnett Center.

Fans will be treated to the FLW Outdoors Expo at the Gwinnett Convention Center on Friday, Saturday and Sunday...there will be a drawing for a Ranger Z520 compliments of the Gwinnett Daily Post and B 98.5 FM...the first 500 kids 14 and under on Saturday will receive a fishing line packet and rod and reel combos will be given to the first 1,500 kids 14 and under in attendance on Sunday courtesy of the Gwinnett Daily Post...the FLW Outdoors Expo includes Ranger boat simulators, a chance to see and test the latest equipment, the opportunity to interact with professional anglers, fishing seminars, enjoy interactive games, activities and giveaways provided by sponsors, and learn more about the sport of fishing and other outdoor activities...all activities are free and open to the public...for a full schedule of events, additional information and to register for the Ranger boat, visit ForrestWoodCup.com.

2010 Forrest Wood Cup Preview
Lake Lanier, Atlanta, Ga.
Lake Lanier has seen its struggles over the last few years with low water levels, but the water level has been rising and the lake should be in great condition for the world championship of bass fishing...the advantages of the low water recently allowed for small trees and grass to grow in areas traditionally covered in water and is now in six to 10 feet of water...spotted bass have traditionally been the choice in recent past, but with the additional vegetation, largemouths could become a factor...visit ForrestWoodCup.com for complete details and a schedule of events.
